MULLUMBIMBY PUBLIC School is the winner of Byron Shire Council’s 2017 Waste Wise Schools Challenge, recognising excellence in waste avoidance and recycling.

The school received a $1000 prize from Byron Shire Mayor, Simon Richardson, at a celebration event at the Council Chambers.

Woman’s Body Found on Brunswick River Banks

A REPORT will be prepared for the coroner after a woman’s body was found dead on the banks of the Brunswick River in Mullumbimby on Wednesday November 29.

The woman, who was found nearby the river in Heritage Park, Mullumbimby about 4.30pm Wednesday 29, is yet to be formally identified but her death is not believed to be suspicious.

Byron Council to Reinforce Two Main Arm Causeways

One of the Main Arm Road causeways to be upgraded by Byron Shire Council.

BYRON SHIRE Council has received a detailed report from specialist engineers about structural solutions for two causeways on Main Arm Road and work is underway to source the equipment for repairs that will improve access for local residents.

Tony Nash, Byron Shire Council’s Manager Works, said the report from the engineers was received on the 29 September, detailing several options which all involve the installation of extra reinforcing and concrete.
