THE AUSTRALIAN Competition and Consumer Commission is warning the public to be alert to scams offering fake gift cards or vouchers in return for disclosing credit card and other personal information.

“This year, the ACCC’s Scamwatch has received 1,175 complaints about fake surveys, emails and social media posts misusing the names and logos of big retailers such as JB Hi-fi, Bunnings, Coles and Woolworths, with $2,600 in total reported lost. These losses are the tip of the iceberg as the scammer’s target is your personal information to help them scam you again in the future,” ACCC Deputy Chair Delia Rickard said.

Greens Petition About Flawed CZMP Ready For NSW Planning Minister

THE BYRON Greens’ Petition to New South Wales Minister for Planning, Hon Rob Stokes has reached 400 signatures and the number continues to rise.

The petition asks the Minister to send Byron Shire’s draft Coastal Zone Management Plan for the Byron Bay Embayment (CZMPBBE) back to Council for revision.

The draft Plan proposes hard works to resolve the conflict perceived between natural coastal processes and real estate boundaries at Belongil Beach.

Tagged Great White Makes Epic Byron-to-NZ-to-Sydney Journey

This is the journey of just one of the great white sharks tagged so far, Shark Nine.

AN ADVENTUROUS juvenile great white shark has gone on an epic journey that has taken her from Byron Bay out to New Zealand and back to Sydney.

Nearly a year after it was first tagged as part of the State Government’s $16 million Shark Management Strategy program, the 2.9m man-eater, known as Shark Nine, has been clocked travelling 10,310km from Ballina down to the cool waters of Bass Straight.

Join our next Beautify Days

Sunday 14 August from 9am – Ewingsdale Road

Our goal is to landscape the easement on Ewingsdale Road near the cycle bridge to improve aesthetics, runoff quality and reduce the potential for week infestation. We will meet at the Cavanbah Centre carpark, sign on at either 9 or 10am.
