Wanted Man ‘Escapes’ into Mullumbimby Police Station

A 28-YEAR-OLD man being chased on foot by police in Mullumbimby on Saturday (29 October 2016) jumped a fence and found himself in the yard of the police station.

Police say this man has been responsible for a number of serious offences in the area and was wanted on several charges.

High visibility police in Mullumbimby spotted the man and began chasing him on foot.

Police say that during the chase, the man jumped over a fence, landing in police premises.

The foot pursuit continued and the man was arrested a short time later with assistance from other officers.

The man was wanted by police for a number of serious offences including: breaking and entering, taking and driving a vehicle, assaulting police, resisting arrest, police pursuit and dangerous driving.

One local officer was injured in the arrest and will be seeking treatment for his injuries.

The man has been bail refused to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court.
