Mullumbimby suffers serious drainage problems in heavy rain. Toilets do not flush properly, sewer smell in backyards and coming up drains. Cars have to park on the road as driveways are flooded.

    Hi,
I have been house sitting in Mullumbimby on regular occasions. The house is situated on New City Rd. On numerous occasions when it rains the sewer system is on over load.
At present 27/02/22 we are experienced heavy rain and flooding. The toilet water does not flush
Immediately and takes some time to go down. Water is coming up the drive way and lapping up
The back ramp into the back of the house. Sewage is smelling everywhere you go in the back garden. It is terrible to see the streets around here with water not being able to get away. In Cyclone Debbie 2017 these people lost thousands of dollars due to flooding in their back yard and coming into their studio space.
    Mullumbimby has serious drainage problems.
    Concerned , House/ dog sitter.
