THREE piece Brisbane band Until Home will be making their debut Byron Bay performance to promote the release of their debut EP Optimistic.

After giving Australia a taste of the EP with singles Break my Fall and Every Summer, the full released is packed with catchy hooks and the band’s signature pop-infused rock elements.

The band was formed in mid-2013, but began as an acoustic duo between Matthew Reisinger and Michael Trapp.

The boys had been writing and playing music together since their early teens but their music took a new direction when fellow classmate Clayton Mullins came onboard.

Michael, who’s on guitar and vocals, said the EP had been a long time in the making.

“We started recording the EP mid to late last year,” he said.

“Then we release the first single (from the debut EP) in January.

“We’d been gigging for about 18 months before the release of the EP without any recorded material so it was nice to actually have a product.

“We like a lot of different styles of music amongst us, but once we actually got to record we kind of agreed on the sound.”

As well as performing together, practising together, and having gone to school together, the trio also works together as disability support workers.

Although already filling big support slots and winning ‘People’s Choice’ in the final edition of the Indie 100 Project, the band jokingly references performing at Wembley Stadium as the benchmark of success, with “what would Coldplay do?”.

Until Home will be performing tracks from their EP at The Beach Hotel in Byron on July 15.
