Tyagarah Sex Attack Means More Police Patrols

BYRON POLICE will be increasing their patrols at Tea Tree Lake after a woman was indecently assaulted there.

A 28-year-old female tourist was waiting for a friend at the lakes near Tyagarah when she was approached by a man who was partially clothed.

He indecently assaulted the woman before she ran from the location and found National Parks and Wildlife officers.

Police arrested a 53-year-old man from Manly, Queensland and he was charged with detain with intent to commit serious indictable offence, commit act of indecency and indecent assault.

He was released on conditional bail and will appear at Byron Bay Local Court at a later date.

Police are encouraging anyone in the area to report suspicious behaviour to Byron Bay police on 02 6685 9499 or on 000 in an emergency.
