Two Million Fish Dead in One Month: Hemp vs Cotton

RIGHT OR wrong, I reckon there would have to be a wealth of knowledge about hemp among our Voice of Byron readers.

And while I realise that a million dead fish in the Darling isn’t really anything to do directly with Byron Shire, I’d like to tap into that knowledge.

I hear that one of the reasons for the dead fish is to do with how thirsty the cotton farms are.

So naturally the question needs to be asked: “Why don’t cotton farmers convert to hemp?

Over to you Voice of Byron readers…

Cheers

Yes, agree. I had not thought of this. I have previously known about hemp curtain material when sewing for a Light Furnishing business. We need clothing made from cooling material, not hot synthetics. That is why I like cotton but yes, where it is grown in Australia, needs massive water.
