Time to Get Real: Byron Markets Must Relocate

THE BYRON BAY markets have outgrown their current location and now is the time to plan a seamless relocation.

And the only viable option is what we have dubbed the Michie Plan.

Byron Bay local David Michie has cast an unjaundiced eye of the issue and has offered the best solution, or at least the best starting point for discussion.

There’s no need for rush and panic… and nothing to be gained by ranting and raving.

Currently the Markets are still under control of the Byron Bay Community Centre who have done a sterling job in market management.

The Community Centre still has 4 years remaining in its contract.

But the time to plan the Markets’ relocation is now.

The Michie Plan is to relocate the Markets to the centre of Byron Bay CBD in and around the Railway Park precinct.

It involves various minor modifications to the railway and surrounds, and David has produced a wealth of maps, plans and solutions to address any perceived problems with the relocation.

Forget the Cavanbah Sports centre. Forget Sandhills. Forget leaving the markets where they are.

The Michie Plan is the only option.

Totally agree. And town gets a grea new piazza where so many good things can happen. Bring it to the shaded centre. Leave the cars in the Butler street furnace. Let’s get this moving team Byron

Oh Yes, and where can we see this plan?

How can it be the only option ? I’m sure there’s a lot of options worth looking into.

For sure, there are a few options. As mentioned in the article – Cavanbah Sports grounds and Sandhills are just two of them.
At Voice of Byron we have examined all of them and deem the Michie Plan as the most viable so far.
