BYRON SHIRE Council can’t afford to buy the Suffolk Park community land at Lot 60, Beech Drive.

Mayor Simon Richardson revealed this week that if the NSW Department Minister Adrian Piccoli insists on selling at current market value, Council only has a third of the amount required.

Simon said politics is a numbers game, and Government Ministers rank contacts to them according to the type and the quantity of contacts.

“A petition is only worth 10 votes, a hand-written letter is worth 100 votes, but a phone call is worth a 1000 votes,” says Simon.

An email contact should therefore be worth much the same as a letter, presuming the NSW Government is in tune with 21st century technology.
