HUNDREDS of people will meet at Splendour in the Grass next Friday to play Pokemon Go.

The online game allows people to play on their mobile phones, catching Pokemon characters while roaming the streets in a mix of real-life-meets-anime-world.

Much like a scene from a B-grade zombie apocalypse film, cities and regional centres around the world have seen hordes of people walking the streets looking at their phones, hoping to catch one of the characters. The game has already been banned from NSW courts, plus museums, libraries and other public spaces in the US, UK and Europe are also

The game has already been banned from NSW courts, plus museums, libraries and other public spaces in the US, UK and Europe are also restricting access to gamers.

A Facebook page called Poken Go Walk at Splendour in the Grass has called ‘Pokemon trainers’ (the name used to refer to people who play the game) to “meet at the Amphitheatre stage at 3:15pm on Friday, watch DMA’s and then let’s go catch those little fu***s”.

The page was created last weekend, only days after the game was released worldwide.

With 121 people already flagged as going by noon today (Wednesday), and another 70 interested in the event, the Pokemon Go hunt at Splendour could rival other official events such as Splendour in the Craft.

Facebook users are already poking Pokemon fun at the event, mixing Splendour gigs with Pokemon characters names.

“Can’t wait to catch Santigolbat,” posted Brisbane’s Aimon Clark, referring to US singer Santigold.

“Can’t wait to get a (James Squire) ninetales!!” posted Jewss Gleeson.
