BYRON SHIRE Council is launching a new survey to create a picture of our community’s current and future childcare needs.

Parents (including soon-to-be parents) and carers are invited to share their thoughts on childcare in Byron Shire.

As a parent of young children, Mayor Simon Richardson acknowledges the difficulties that can be faced by families.

“It can be a real juggle for families to find the right balance with child care,” he said.

“Parents and carers are looking for quality care at the right time, cost and place that support their children to thrive.

“With many families living far apart or working, extended family support is often not available.

“Finding quality childcare that suits your family’s needs can be a challenging journey,” he said.

Parent and carers need to take part in the survey to help achieve better planning and positive changes for the Shire community.

The survey forms part of a bigger picture analysis of the local Children’s Services sector and will inform Council’s new Children’s Services policy.
