VOICE of BYRON regular, John Luck, describes the absolute horror show he found when he visited the Lismore Recycling Centre.
John says, “I was going to Lismore a few days ago so I decided to try the new recycling facility.
“On getting there I thought I’d just driven into a tip.

“There were plastic bags and beer cartons covering the whole area and not a garbage bin anywhere in sight.
“Along with the bags and cartons were rejected bottles and cans.
“Apparently cans and bottles need to be in pristine condition. If they are damaged in ‘any’ way they are not acceptable.
“Even the bar codes have to be readable. As a result, the rejects are just thrown on the ground.
“To make things worse, only two out of four of the input areas were working.
“And I won’t go into the loud guys sitting around in their stubbies and singlets, drinking beer.
“It was, all in all, not something that I’d like to do again.
“But it’s coming to a town near you.”
