FROM FACEBOOK: Police Action on Byron Bay Illegal Beachfront Camping

  • Post category:Byron Bay

Voice of Byron regular shot us these terrific images of what appeared at first to be police action against vehicles illegally camped on the Byron Bay Main Beach waterfront.

However, while Council has adopted a more proactive stance against illegal camping, the tow-away today was because the vehicle was unregistered and had been there for a couple of weeks or more.

A police van and a local commercial tow truck are pictured, along with various van/camping vehicles.

Other illegal vehicles were moved on, leaving a few individuals haranguing police and rangers.

Individuals associated with one of the illegally parked vehicles conducted the amusing, if petty, act of throwing bread at the feet of police and rangers, upon which they were swamped with seagulls after the bread.
