VOICE of BYRON regular, Robert Sampimom, questions the ethics of whether a Byron Bay developer should also be on the Byron Bay Masterplan Leadership Committee .

Robert asks, “Why is it that the developer, Graham Dunn, is still on the Masterplan Leadership Committee?

The question arises over a Development Application for a $21 million project at the south end of Jonson Street, Byron Bay.

“Mr Dunn’s DA states that four storeys ‘are a response to the recommendations of the council-adopted Byron Bay Masterplan.’

“This is just unethical.

“Committee members say that they don’t share any information from the meetings as they are confidential, so the argument that the committee’s ponderings are open, don’t stack up.

“Graham Dunn’s profession is making money from developments and information is king,” says Robert.

Answering a question from another Voice of Byron member, Robert says, “And no, Geoff, your investment properties do not make you a developer unless it is your full time job.

Byron is just losing its appeal to most that have lived here for over 20 years.
You may as well be on the Gold Coast, so many of my friends from Queensland have told me, and unfortunately I have to agree.
