Update on Byron Shire Council website outages

“We apologise for the inconvenience the outages on our website are causing,” Director Corporate and Community Services Mark Arnold said.

“The company originally hosting council’s website has been acquired by a larger hosting company and since migration a number of technical issues have arisen due to idiosyncrasies of the website.

We understand part of the problem is due to legacy components within council’s website, which may not be fully compatible with the new hosting platform and are causing instability.

Council’s IT team have escalated the request and are liaising with the new hosting company’s migration team to resolve all technical issues and stability for the website as a matter of the highest priority and we are hoping for a fast resolution to these problems,” he said.

Council is in the process of developing a new website which will be functional in early 2018.

For more information contact Manager Business Systems & Technology, Phil Pountney, on 6626 7232.

“Thanks for your patience and cooperation.”
