Announcing Ken’s appointment in 2012, Byron Shire Mayor Simon Richardson welcomed him as the Shire’s new General Manager and said he looked forward to working with him.

Simon said Mr Gainger’s extensive background in local government, strategic management and community engagement were key skills that would help guide the Byron Shire over the coming years.

“Mr Gainger has been a GM for around 20 years, so a lot of experience, which is pleasing, dealing with collaborative initiatives with other councils.”
