THE OUTRAGE in Suffolk Park and Byron Bay at NSW Department of Education’s decision to auction off community land at Suffolk Park is escalating.

There is a pressing need for Mike Baird and his bean counters to feel this outrage.

That’s why there will be a rally held on the community land at Beech Drive, Suffolk Park, on Wednesday, November 16, at 5.30 pm.

Suffolk Park Progress Association Vice President Patsy Brosnan says there is a major risk that should the land sell, it will be developed.

“This will mean a tragic loss for Suffolk Park residents,” she said.

“Back when Byron Bay’s population was the same size as Suffolk Park’s is today, the Bay had four or five times the community land space that we have today in Suffolk Park.

“And now the NSW Education Department wants to take that away from us as well.”

Rally organizers have launched a Facebook page called Save Suffolk Park’s “Village Green” and provided the NSW Minister for Education Adrian Piccolli’s contact details:

Suffolk Park residents aren’t alone in their outrage at the NSW Education Department’s planned sell-off of treasured community land in Suffolk Park.

Calls for Premier Mike Baird to step in and cancel a planned auction of the land at Lot 60, Beech Drive, Suffolk Park have escalated.

Federal ALP MP Justine Elliot, Member for Richmond, has called on Mike Baird to stop the auction, adding her voice to Greens NSW State member for Ballina, Tamara Smith’s call for the withdrawal of the land from auction.
