BYRON BAY anti graffiti campaigner, Paul Waters, has been removing graffiti in the area for the past 6 years.
“As you can see from the video, we formally kicked off on 2011, and since then we estimate we have removed or painted over more than 10,000 tags.
“There are several volunteer groups and Suffolk park has a painter who keeps his zone clear.
“Belongil has a resident who has kept that zone graffiti free as well”

Paul concentrates on the Byron Bay CBD and the approaches to town.
He says the support of Council is both crucial and valuable.
“Council activated the Better Byron Crew to clean off graffiti, stickers and posters off their assets, he saïd.
Local businesses who realise the need to remove graffiti as soon as it appears, also assist to deter more vandalism.
“I am extremely grateful for the overall cooperation that has resulted in a much much cleaner town.
Paul is also determined to make it very clear, Byron Bay’s anti graffiti people don’t confuse street art or Urban Art with mindless tagging graffiti.
“We have supported the painting of many murals and street art projects throughout town during this time, in fact we have funded and encouraged business to support these projects to deter mindless tagging.
“There are many examples that have radically changed the streetscape across town and created photo opportunities for visitors and local alike.”
