AARON Richter-Steers became Byron Bay Bowlo’s 2016 Club Champion last Thursday when he defeated Peter Lofts for the title in a close and entertaining match.

It was one of the better finals in recent history with the lead changing a dozen times before Aaron ran out winner by 4 shots.

Congratulations to both players on an excellent performance.

Now our attention turns to the Club Triples, nominations for which are closed and the requirement that the first round of matches be completed by 10th Sep.

Socially we had a visit from the South Tweed Trippers on Sunday morning which was a pleasant affair in glorious conditions.

Thanks to our members who turned up for the event and we look forward to the return visit to South Tweed.

Our regular social bowls on Thursday resulted in a win to Bulla Burton and Gavin McPhail with r/up Reg Condie and Paul Bezrouchko.

The jackpot did not go off is now worth $90. Ivan Eastern returned to the winner’s circle by taking home the meat tray whilst Mick Ayo and Mark Banfield grabbed the Huxley Insurances Losing Rink Drink.

Saturday’s winners were Peter Wilton and Bulla Burton whilst Malcolm Shearer, Pat Bigg and Werner Borkhardt to the minor prize.

The raffle went well that afternoon with the big crowds of barefoot bowlers enjoying the greens and facilities.
