Album Deaux Will Wow at Byron Theatre
ALBUM DEUX is Australian duo Baby Et Lulu’s latest release. Baby et Luly are Abby Dobson (Baby, also from Leonardo’s Bride) and Lara Goodridge (Lulu, also part of band FourPlay).
The singers, both Australian, sing only in French, although French is not their first language and neither have they ever lived in France.
The singers decided to challenge themselves even further and write some original songs in French for Album Deux.
The result is a release that translates into an interesting music show coming to Byron Bay next week.
Lulu said this latest challenge was an exciting career move for the duo.
“We’re coming to Byron Bay with our full band, so it’s a really tight swinging band and singing our own songs makes it even more fun,” she said.
“Writing in French was a lovely process but we will be playing songs from both albums, and all of our originals.
“Abby and I are kind of ridiculous on stage with our French accents (laughs) but the songs are beautiful and we love singing together; there is a truly great synergy happening between us on stage, and the audience always get to share that with us and they leave on a bit of a high.”
At the Byron Theatre, 69 Jonson St, Byron Bay, on Friday, July 29, from 7pm. $40
