$5 Million Will Get You This Watego’s Residence

  • Post category:Byron Bay
The world-famous Watego’s Beach is mere footsteps from this recently renovated home.

WHO CAN remember what blocks of land went for right after Watego’s Beach went on sale, back around the time Bill Schoon was in town?

Prices have been on the up-and-up for Lighthouse Road/Watego’s Beach properties ever since Roger Munro’s joint became the first home in the area to sell for $1 million, way back in the late 1980s.

Set over three levels, the four-bedroom house has an open-plan living space leading onto entertaining decks with ocean and hinterland views.
The master bedroom, retreat and private balcony occupy the upper floor. Motorsport and yachting enthusiasts Greg and Liz Newton have owned the property, sitting at the foot of the Cape Byron Lighthouse, for the past 17 years. Agent: Su Reynolds, Byron Bay First National, Byron Bay.

Grew up in this house. Many memories … The lighthouse beaming through my bedroom window at night.magic sunrises and sunsets. Uncrowded waves at wategoes. Walking over the back to tallows past all the goats. Fishing on the rocks and getting swept off. Close call with a five metre great white whilst surfing off the point. Was a great place to grow up

Roger Munro’s house was sold by Margaret Robertson for $1 million to SirTristan Antico in 1989. I remember it well because I worked with Margaret at 15 Lawson Street – very happy days 😊

Thanks for the extra info, Tony. At this time on a Saturday morning I was struggling!
