Mass Resignations Hit Bangalow Chamber of Commerce

FOUR SENIOR members of the Bangalow Chamber of Commerce have resigned suddenly, including president Carolyn Adams and vice president Jeff Lovett, over an ongoing rift in the Chamber that has resulted in alleged threats and bullying.

Ms Adams announced, with “deep disappointment”, the mass resignation to Chamber members in an email.

Explaining the shock decision, the Bangalow Newsagency owner said she had been “bullied and my decisions as Chamber president constantly questioned”.

“I have been threatened with motions of “no confidence”, accused of acting unconstitutionally.”

The issue concerns the proposed $20 million industrial food precinct on the outskirts of Bangalow on 201 Lismore Rd, which has bitterly divided the Chamber.

The food precinct would house expanding Byron Shire value-adding food businesses, led by muesli maker Brookfarm and small good producer Salumi.
