BYRON SHIRE Council passed a resolution to negotiate purchasing the land at Thursday’s Nov 17 Council meeting. Negotiations may now begin between BSC Manager, Ken Gainger and the NSW Dept of Education.
Suffolk Park Progress Association Vice-President Patsy Brosnan warned that the issue is not over until it’s over, and the land belongs to Suffolk Park forever.
“We still need to keep the pressure on the NSW Department of Education to accept a fair price or even gift this land to our community,” she said.
“It’s already publicly owned – therefore, Byron Shire Council should not be expected to pay market value for it.
“Please take a few minutes to contact the Minister for Education, Adrian Piccoli https://www.nsw.gov.au/ministercontactfo…/minister-education or call next week on 02 8574 5300.
“Tell him just how much 60 Beech Drive, our ‘village green’, means to you.
“As a NSW Electorate we already own this land, why should it be purchased twice?
“Enjoy and share the much valued film above of our recent rally, with thanks to The Bakery Media Production team.”
