VOICE OF BYRON figures for June 2017 show the website and its companion Facebook resources continue to provide a genuine voice for the people of Byron Shire to express their views about Byron Shire in general, and Byron Bay in particular.
“It feels so good to see the predominantly Byron Bay residents making such effective use of the Voice of Byron community Facebook facilities,” Voice of Byron editor, John Wright, said this week.
“It’s particularly gratifying to see people of obviously high intelligence making such constant use of our Facebook Group.
“I particularly admire June’s most prolific VoB commenter, David Michie, for his well thought out ideas and stringently researched options for important challenges in Byron Bay, like parking and the Markets.”
John Wright said he agrees so much with David’s markets relocation option, he intends to promote it as Voice of Byron’s preferred option, under the title, The Michie Markets Option.
“But David’s not on his own,” says John.
Of the top 10 commenters on Voice of Byron in June, only two were from outside the Shire.
“And one of those is local Bayite legend, Keith Haines, who’s heart will forever be in Byron Bay, no matter what his postal address is.”
The Voice of Byron website was well attended during June as well.
“We had nearly 8000 (7,957) unique visitors who viewed a total of 92,490 pages,” said John.
“It shows that the overwhelming number of people look, lurk and read, rather than comment or ‘like’.
“It’s much the same with print-on-paper publications. Out of every 10,000 readers, they might be lucky to get 20 or 30 Letters to the Editor.”
