Thousands of Byron Shire Facebookers Conned Into Human Virus Scam

  • Post category:Byron Shire

THOUSANDS OF Byron Shire Facebook members have been tricked into posting false warnings about Facebook-friending a “Jayden K Smith” who is portrayed as a hacker who will then hack their account.

This is the latest in a string of fake hacker warnings that began in the old MSN Messenger days, all of which are total bullshit.

You cannot be “hacked” just for accepting a friend requests.

Even the most clever hacker can not take control of your computer just by being added to your Facebook friends list.

Hacking requires some sort of file transfer or exchange of information, or the victim must take some sort of action such as installing malware.

If one of these hoaxes comes your way, do not share it with others. And, let the person who posted it know that the message is a hoax.

HUMAN VIRUS

Email viruses infiltrate your email address book and send an email to everyone in there. This then happens in all the address books of the recipients. Before long millions of email accounts have been affected.

In the case of the Jayden K Smith, it is the humans who are sending the bogus warning to all their Messenger contacts.

The humans have become the virus.

Think of it as the 21st century social media version of the old 20th century snail-mail chain letter scam.
