BY THE final day of the Masters section of the World Masters Surf Lifesaving Championships held in Noordwijk, Netherlands, the Byron Bay Surf Club team had struck gold and silver.
Veteran Byron Bay SLSC members Geoff Brodin, Glen Lawrence, Jeff Vidler, Colin Mustoe and Murray Saul all competed in the 55-59 age division.
In team events, the team members’ ages were added together, putting the boys in the 170+ division.
At the conclusion of the Masters competition, the Bay boys walked away with three gold and four silver medals, notably achieving gold and silver in the Board Rescue event.

- Board Rescue: Jeff Vidler and Colin Mustoe – Gold; Geoff Brodin and Glen Lawrence – Silver
- Board Relay: Geoff Brodin, Jeff Vidler and Colin Mustoe – Gold
- Surf Teams (swim): Glen Lawrence, Jeff Vidler and Colin Mustoe – Silver
- Ski Relay: Glen Lawrence, Murray Saul and Jeff Vidler – Silver
- Taplin Relay (swim/ski/board): Glen Lawrence, Murray Saul and Geoff Brodin – Gold
- 2km Beach Run: Geoff Brodin – Silver
