THREE BYRON Shire schools have topped the NSW State list of schools suffering from too many students and too few classrooms.
A recent NSW Labor freedom of information request revealed five North Coast schools were classed as overcrowded, three of which were in Byron Shire.
Main Arm Upper School topped the list at 125% capacity with Coorabell Public School coming second at 108%, and Byron Bay High School came in at third at 103%.
The Minister (for Education Adrian Piccoli) has stated that the Baird Government has no plan to manage the increasing volume of student enrolments but he has admitted demountable buildings were the Government’s only solution to the overcrowding problem.
