The Byron Bay Swimming pool, partly financed by a kind of community spirit no longer evident in the Bay, is still a jewel in the town’s crown.
At full Olympic size, the pool was where thousands of young Bayites learnt to swim.
It started its life as a saltwater pool, pumping water from Sharkey Beach.
