LONG TIME Byron Bay local, Col Farrell, has digitised a reel-to-reel tape containing a couple of sets by Ross Pepper’s band McNifffs playing at the Byron Bay Sea Breeze Hall in 1963
Col was co-drummer with Arthur Oke on the night because it was Col’s first gig of his 15 year career as a drummer.
Other musicians on the night included Dave “Boob” Crandon, Ray Morton, Noel Carney and Big Ross Pepper from Mullumbimby.
Col now needs a collection of photographs of Sea Breeze dances from the 1950s and ’60s so a slideshow can be made to accompany the sound track.

Hi my name is Peter Carney, son of Noel Carney (deceased) who sang with the McNiffs Orchestra + The Seasiders in the 50s & 60s. I have several photos, newspaper cuttings and CD recordings that may be of use for your slide show. I have also sent an email to john@voiceofbyron.com.au with some of the images.
G’day Peter
Got your email but won’t have a chance to look at it until tomorrow. The thumbnails in the email look really great.
Thanks for your time… and I’ll let you know as soon as the video is ready
Cheers, John
