BYRON SHIRE Council has received 15 submissions for its BioEnergy Project, seeking to utilise cutting edge technology to produce clean energy from biomass waste.

“We now have some very exciting and innovative opportunities on the table and the important thing for the community to understand is that no fuel for the operation of these bioenergy facilities will come from native forests,” Byron Shire Mayor, Simon Richardson said.

NSW Government MLC Catherine Cusack has attacked Byron Shire Council, one of its Councillors, and members of the Byron Bay Community Centre under parliamentary privilege.

Byron Shire Councillor Paul Spooner has released a statement refuting Cusack’s allegations regarding the Community Centre.

THE NEW menu at the Byron Bay Services Club has proved very popular. It was introduced to patrons last Friday night March 2nd.

Club Secretary-Manager David Green said the response from diners on Friday night and over the weekend was very positive.

THE FIRST stage of landscape design and beautification works that will breathe new life into Railway Park in Byron Bay will start next week commencing March 12.

Work will commence in the north-eastern section of Railway Park fronting Jonson Street, near the crossing.

IN A MOVE that would result in up to $30,000 fines just 90 kilometres to the north in Queensland, Byron Bay’s Rabbit Sanctuary is calling for “Rabbit Foster Carers” in Byron.

Foster carers will be provided with a free indoor playpen, free hay and pellets and all veterinary costs will be covered.

Older members of the community not only have wisdom and grace that comes from experience but they have time and love for our shire that sees them donating thousands of volunteer hours for all manner of organisations and causes.

THE NSW Government has installed a Return and Earn vending machine in the car park at the Cavanbah Centre at Byron Bay.

The reverse cycle vending machine will pay 10 cents per container and operates from 7 am to 10 pm, seven days a week.
