Queensland Couple Fined After Woman Attacked on New Brighton Beach

THE VICTIM of a dog attack at New Brighton Beach on the 29 September 2017 has contacted the Byron Shire Council to say she is extremely happy a couple from Queensland has been fined over the incident. 

The 29-year-old woman was running along the beach when she was attacked by a German Shepherd said Byron Shire Council’s Legal Services Coordinator, Ralph James.

Pay or Go Away: No Free Camping in Byron Shire

Byron Shire Council continues to grapple with illegal camping. Each night it is estimated there are approximately 120 – 160 campervans in car parks around the Shire, particularly near the beach, as well as in residential streets 

Byron Shire Council’s Director Sustainable Environment and Economy, Shannon Burt, said illegal camping is an issue all-year round but it gets worse during the school holidays and summer months.

Man and Woman Charged After Man’s Ear Partially Bitten Off

Two parties punched, kicked and bit a male victim before police broke up the fight. Photo: Northern Star

A MAN and woman have been arrested following an alleged assault of another man where he ear was partially bitten off in Byron Bay early this morning.

About 12.30am (Sunday October 8), the man and woman were walking along Jonson Street when they became involved in an altercation with a 26-year-old man known to the pair.

“I do hope it generates discussion and certainly brings the Greens and the local RSL branch into account.

“Readers are advised that the Green Councillors refused to seek legal advice.
