Byron Shire GM Seeks Forgiveness Instead of Permission

IN AN OBVIOUS display of the old saying “Better to seek forgiveness rather than permission” Byron Shire Council General Manager Ken Gainger has apologized for chopping down trees in Byron Bay’s Railway Park.

Council staff recently removed two trees and a Bangalow Palm from Railway Park in Byron Bay in preparation for imminent Park redevelopment works, a Byron Bay Town Centre Master Plan project funded under a State Government grant and pay parking revenue.

Byron Bay Railway Park $500,000 Garden and Turf Works “Ready for Weekend”

Byron Shire Council’s Open Spaces Team will finish scheduled gardening and turfing works and remove the safety fencing in Railway Park by close of business today, Friday 27, weather permitting – returning full access of the park to the community for the weekend.

The preparatory works involve the removal of the concrete-edged garden beds and two trees to open up pedestrian access to the park from Jonson Street, as part of the Railway Park upgrade.

Police Arrest Man Eating Leaves Off Tree in Byron Car Park

TWEED-BYRON police have arrested a man in Byron Bay on drugs charges after he was allegedly spotted eating the leaves off a tree at a car park.

About 1.30am on Saturday, October 21, police were called to a car park in Jonson Street, Byron Bay because a man was allegedly drug affected and eating leaves from a tree.
