MINING MAGNATE Brian Flannery has pioneered the world’s first solar-powered railway, but when his train started whirring past sea-changers’ homes in Byron Bay, not everyone is happy.

Byron Shire Provides Extra Bins for Christmas Rubbish

THERE’S NO need for Byron Shire residents to worry about what to do with the boxes, wrapping, bottles and general waste this Christmas/New Year holiday period. 

Byron Shire Council will provide extra (urban domestic) bin collections this year to help households cope with the waste and recyclables that accumulate during the festive season.

Woman’s Body Found on Brunswick River Banks

A REPORT will be prepared for the coroner after a woman’s body was found dead on the banks of the Brunswick River in Mullumbimby on Wednesday November 29.

The woman, who was found nearby the river in Heritage Park, Mullumbimby about 4.30pm Wednesday 29, is yet to be formally identified but her death is not believed to be suspicious.

Mono and the team at the Official sign-on for Australian Adaptive Surfing Team. Mono says, “Great waves today too. Bring it on!”

BYRON SHIRE surfing legend, Mark “Mono” Stewart has arrived with the Australian Team in La Jolla, California, home of the 2017 Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship.

The Australian team is part of a record-breaking 109 contestants from 26 countries who will take part in the championship event, shattering the record of 77 athletes from 21 countries that was set in 2016.

Bangalow Pay Parking Permits to be Offered to Residents in Newrybar, Brooklet, Clunes

RESIDENTS IN villages close to Bangalow will be offered the opportunity to buy an E permit when pay parking is introduced on 1 January 2018.

People living in Clunes, Newrybar, Rosebank, Nashua, Brooklet, Booyong and Repentance Creek will be able to apply for an E permit because many people use Bangalow as their primary place to do business.
