Seven Mile Beach Effectively Privatised by Byron Shire Council

SEVEN MILE Beach Road has effectively been privatised by Byron Shire Council’s reduction of parking spaces.

Dozens of boulders and more than 100 signs have been erected at various car parks traditionally used by hundreds of Byron Bay locals, including sporting organisations like the Byron Bay Boardriders Club and the Byron Services Angling Club.

Echo Clarifies Dunn’s Four Storey DA in Byron Bay

ECHONETDAILY’S HANS Lovejoy has written a comprehensive and typically excellent article which clarifies a number of matters raised by an article run last week about the development.

Further to last week’s report of a high density development proposed on the corner block at the end of Jonson Street opposite Byron Music, developer Graham Dunn says that the proposed height of his development ‘complies with the current height of building for the B2 Town Centre zone of 11.5 metres.’

Mono Brings Home Bronze from World Championships

Byron Bay’s Mark ”Mono” Stewart finished third in his division at the 2017 Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship. Photo: Surfing Australia

BYRON BAY world surfing champion Mark ”Mono” Stewart has returned from the World ASD Championships with a medal for the third year running.

Backing up his two Gold medals from the past two years, Mono has returned home this year with a Bronze in the AS2 stand/kneel division.

Byron Shire Councillor says Green Politics Means More Potholes

BYRON SHIRE Councillor Alan Hunter says the past week has seen a change in pace for Council, and one that has not gained anything useful.

Cr Hunter says General Manager Ken Gainger’s resignation says a lot about Council when the person who drove Council from a prime target for amalgamation to being rated as Fit for the Future by NSW Treasury, has resigned.
