It’s the realisation of an eight-year dream held by the owners of the resort Elements of Byron and their development director, Jeremy Holmes.

People’s Voice Forces Council to Back Down Over Seven Mile Beach Parking

THE VOICE of Byron Bay locals concerned about high-handed actions by Byron Shire Council over parking at Seven Mile Beach has forced Byron Shire Council to reverse its decision.

Council voted unanimously at its meeting yesterday Thursday 14 December to remove 20 boulders and over 100 No Parking signs along Seven Mile Beach Road, introducing new signs which will say “No Parking Between 5pm and 9am.”

No Parking Meters for Bangalow All Year 2018

IN A REVERSAL of its August 2017 resolution, Byron Shire Council has swapped new parking meters for new parking time limits in the Bangalow CBD.

Strong campaigning by Bangalow residents and business owners means that new parking time limits will be introduced in January 2018 and monitored for 12 months, instead of parking meters.

Byron Council Staff Bring Christmas Happiness to Eight Families

EIGHT FAMILIES in the Northern Rivers who have been experiencing tough going this year will be celebrating a merrier Christmas thanks to the generosity of Byron Shire Council staff.

The Salvation Army approached Council’s Records Coordinator, Tracey Dousling two weeks ago asking if she could organise staff to provide a food hamper and several gifts for one family in need.

NSW Government $2.6 million Gift for New Byron Shire Bridges

BYRON SHIRE Council has received the perfect Christmas present from the NSW Government – $2.6million for the replacement of five old bridges. 

The grant from the Fixing Country Roads program has been welcomed by Byron Shire Council’s Acting General Manager, Mark Arnold, who said it was like receiving an unexpected gift from Santa.

Drowning at Tallow Beach Claims Brisbane Man’s Life

A 21-YEAR-OLD Brisbane man drowned at Byron Bay’s Tallow Beach beach despite the urgent assistance of several onlookers including a fireman who performed CPR.

Local surfer Anthony Mikellides, 45, said he went to Tallow Beach, Suffolk Park, just after 12.20 pm for a swim and noticed a man was in trouble.

Time to Renew or Buy Your Byron Shire Parking E-Permit

With pay parking in Bangalow set to commence on 1 January 2018, Council is reminding all Byron Shire residents to take advantage of the $55 E-Permit available to them.

Council records show that 58 per cent of Bangalow residents already have an E-Permit but if you need to renew or buy a new one, now is a good time, before the holiday rush.
