TRULY SAD news in the passing of one of the Bay's well-loved locals, Norelle Stratford (Geddes).
Relle grew up in the Bay and forged a massive array of friendships over the years.
You only need to read some of the tributes on her Facebook page to see how she impacted on so many lives – in the Bay and then in the Northern Territory where she lived until she succumbed after a long battle with cancer.
Another old Bay local, Ray Lawlis, summed up how we all feel: "To a beautiful long time friend and BYRON BAY local, Rest in Peace RELLE. We will miss you xx
And a newer friend from Darwin, Lucy Murrell, showed how precious Norelle was to the people around her up there: "I feel empty at the thought of your death Norelle. Beautiful, smart, caring wild woman who worked so hard for Taminmin College students and staff through many years.
"A courageous and strong AEU NT member who fought so many battles. A wonderful loving mother. An adventurer and eco-woman. Thank you for your presence, friendship, support and strength – for being a wonderful colleague through the years.
"May you rest in peace. My heart is with your beautiful children, your family and friends in deep sympathy. God be with you all"
