THURSDAY NIGHT August 25: Mayor Simon Richardson’s Byron Line presentation at the Byron Bay Community Centre was well-received by those who attended.
Bay community advocate Nicqui Yazdi declared in Voice of Byron’s website that it was “nothing short of brilliant.”
“With a room full of smart and passionate people, from all of the groups who have an interest in the possible uses of the rail track, to those from the communities along The Byron Line – from Billinudgel to Bangalow – there was a lot of enthusiasm and some great ideas floated.
“What most people wouldn’t even realise and what impressed me the most is that Simon has done this in his own time, with his own money.
“He even paid for the hire of the Cavanbah Room last night, out of his own pocket,” she said.
A quick pass of the hat around the room showed that everyone at last night’s meeting could see the vision that Simon has so dedicatedly put together.
“This could be something wonderful to bring to the people of this area, with the right heads getting together to make it happen.
“When you marry together TOOT, NRRT, Council and the community, with a shared vision, the possibilities are endless,” Nicqui said.

What about he gets real. Fix the Sam roads first. Fix the bypass and fix his head. No economics. No brains. No for mayor.
Has this ‘vision’ being funded? Costed? Investigated at any level?
Yawn! can’t get the bypass passe or fix the potholes and His Nibs is talking about a rail line…. WTF!
Congrats to Simon for his vision, dedication to public transport and for pulling together opposing groups.
This could be the start of the corridor renewal. It needs to be, as those ‘pesky’ trees keep growing along the line.
