A 19-YEAR-OLD male has been arrested after he allegedly threw punches at police when they tried to break up a fight in Byron Bay in the early hours of Saturday morning (December 9).
About 2.15am police driving along Jonson Street noticed a fight between taking place two males.
They detained the male who appeared to be the aggressor but while they were walking him towards the police vehicle the other male approached them in an aggressive manner.

He allegedly threw a number of punches towards the upper body and head of one of the officers.
The officer pinned him against the police vehicle and other police assisted in restraining him.
He was taken to the Byron Bay Police Station where he was charged with assaulting police, resisting police and hindering police and will appear in Byron Bay Local Court on January 11.
