BYRON BAY hand-made paper specialist Susan Jane is about to share her paper making secrets in an exclusive workshop to be held in May 2017.
Susan’s many years’ experience in print media at her family’s Byron News/Wrightprint, lead naturally to her interest in creating hand-made paper.
She has been thrilling and delighting folks for some time now, with her creations under her Born In Paper label.
Born In Paper offers beautiful, sustainable and hand-made paper products by recycling office waste in the hills of Byron Bay.
“If you’d like to put your own stamp of creativity into the paper, we offer unique, tailored workshops where you can create your own paper in a group environment, or purchase a mould and deckle paper making kit so you can make your own paper at home.
The May 13th 2017 workshop will start at 9 am at the Coorabell Hall and run for 3½ hours.
Born In Paper‘s website also will have an online store open this week, with a range of papers including seeded paper, invitations, stationery, and cherished hand-bound note books and journals.
“A Born In Paper workshop makes for the perfect get-together, whether it be with friends, workmates or family (mother-daughter workshops are a real delight). We can also tailor the perfect group experience,” says Susan.
Introduction to Paper Making
- Learn to make paper, recycle, add flowers, water, cotton and colour to make beautiful stationery.
- Learn to prepare your pulp, pull sheets of paper, press, dry, add seeds for gift tags, or try embossing the wet paper.
- The ideas for using the paper are endless.
As Susan says, “Our workshop will include all you need to make your paper, a board to transport your paper home, flowers to press in the pulp, a delightful morning tea, one of my hand stitched note nooks (we have a workshop for that too), and a chance to explore your creative side.”
