DONALEE SLOAN, a long time Byron Bay local, lost her home in the recent Rappville fire.
Donalee escaped from the Rappville fire in the clothes she was wearing. She lost everything.
Another Bay local, Ray Lawlis, recently approached the Byron Bay Services Club to hold a fundraiser for Donalee.
The result? A big rock ‘n’ roll fundraiser will be held at the Byron Bay Services Club on Saturday, Octover 19, starting at 7 pm.
There’ll be a table for people to donate sheets, blankets and other household necesities.
There will also be provision to receive cash donations and, most importantly, gift vouchers which can be redeemed at department stores like Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, Kmart and Target.
ANd of course, there will be some mighty music from two bands – MOJO, and HUMAN ERROR, with guest star Elli Gee from Brisbane.
Gift Vouchers Best Choice
When he spoke to Voice of Byron, Ray said gift couchers are by far the best option for people wishing to donate to Donalee.
“With gift vouchers, Donalee can buy what she really needs,” he said.
“It’s far better for her to be able to buy the things she needs, than to be stuck with say five toasters.”
More to come…
