Voice of Byron regular, Patricia Warren, urges local residents to stop Public land being handed over to North Coast Holiday Parks (NCHP) for commercial use.
Crown Lands will be conducting walking tours through the caravan parks TODAY, Tuesday 8th November and we encourage residents to join in and see what’s happening in our caravan parks.
Cr. Cate Coorey will be putting up an amendment to Council’s resolution 16-464 which gave “in principle” support to proposed new park boundaries.
We urge local residents to Contact Mayor Simon Richardson, Paul Spooner and Basil Cameron and ask them and new Councillors to reconsider and support our community preferred options and retain Ferry foreshore (including Riverside Cres road reserve lands) and Part of Lot 7005 alongside the boat harbour.
Only a narrow scrap of land approx 7m wide is retained for public use at Massey Greene and until recently (Aug 16) Council resolved to align the park boundary along existing picket fence.
Restrictions need to be in place to restrict the use of the southern area of the Terrace caravan park to school holidays only and ‘soft’ camping only in order to protect the WW1 Memorial Coastal Pines.
Stop Public land being handed to NCHP for commercial use.
This will be our last chance to retain highly prized foreshore lands for public use. Call or contact your Councillors before next Thursday’s (17th Nov) meetings.
