VOICE of BYRON regular, Melissa Darnley, shared this historic event about the opening of the new North Room Museum at the Cape Byron Lighthouse.
Melissa says, “A fabulous morning at Cape Byron for the opening of new North Room Museum exhibit titled “Lighthouse Keeping : A Partnership” to honour the lives of our lighthouse keepers, their wives and families.
“Some retired lighthouse keepers, wives and family members travelled from afar and enjoyed mingling and sharing memories with the Vollies, historians, media, lighthouse lovers and our National Parks crew, before heading up to see our two Museum rooms and take a memorable climb to the top.
