Voice of Byron regular, Sarah Buchanan, has started a crowdfunding campaign to help Byron music and entertainment legend Brendan “Mookx” Hanley.
Voice of Byron editor John Wright has fond 1970s and 80s memories of when Brendan and Julie wandered the streets of Byron – travelling troubadours who brought fine music and lots of joy wherever they went.
“I count myself very lucky to have called Brendan a friend of 40 years or more, and urge all Voice of Byron readers to dip into their pockets to help out a real good bloke,” says John.
Sarah adds, “Mookx (Brendan) is a legend in these parts!
“He has a huge community of friends, fans and supporters in Nimbin and the Northern Rivers area.
“He is a wonderful and generous person and talented musician.
“He has worked and supported musicians and their families in Fiji capturing on tape their cultural songs) and has been an activist and an advocate for many environmental concerns.
“He has been a giver!
“Mookx now needs our help in his hour of need.
“Medical expenses, housing, transport to and from hospitals and doctors, diet, car costs, company and support etc etc
“Will you contribute to this fund to help make his life a little easier?
“Help spread the word!
