DEMAND FOR housing in the Byron Shire continues to increase. Byron Shire Council has been inundated with an unprecedented number Development Applications.
This surge in applications has lead to longer than usual processing times, with average processing times now being 60 days. However, applications may be determined sooner and applicants are encouraged to consult with Council Development Support Officers to ensure a full and complete application is submitted upfront.
“Byron Shire Council has seen approximately a 35% increase in the number of applications from the same time last year,” said Acting Director of Sustainable Environment and Economy, Sharyn French.
“To assist in the timely response of applications, Byron Shire Council has committed additional resources to meet this increased demand.
“This includes additional staff to assist the Development and Planning team meet the high volume of applications and continue the Council’s dedication to high level customer service.
