No place for Instant Hotels in Byron Shire

BYRON SHIRE Council has strongly condemned the television program Instant Hotel which features a property in the Byron Shire.

“I am concerned to see a property on Red Gate Road at South Golden Beach promoted as an ‘instant hotel’ particularly because there has been a history of non-compliance with respect to the use of the property,” Mayor Richardson said.

Byron Shire Council Team Leader Takes Out National Award

BYRON SHIRE Council’s Donna Tucker has won the National Team Leader of the Year award at the 2017 National Local Government Customer Service Awards.

“This is a huge accolade for Donna – she is an incredible leader and her enthusiasm for customer service is infectious,” Byron Shire Council’s Acting General Manager, Mark Arnold said.

Byron Bay Photographer Wins International Award With Amazing Migaloo Shot

A STUNNING IMAGE of Migaloo making his way up the eastern Australian coast has snagged a Byron Bay photographer a prestigious international award.

Titled The Ghost, Craig Parry’s photo of the famed white whale won first place in the underwater world category at the 2017 Golden Turtle International Photography Competition in Moscow this week.

Byron’s Steam Team Cutting Chemical Use in the Shire

BYRON SHIRE Council’s Steam Team is putting the heat on Council’s commitment to eliminating the use of herbicides on all high use public lands with the purchase of a new steam weeder. 

The machine, supplied by Australian company Weedtechnics, is regarded as one of the best and most efficient on the market, and is being used to kill weeds in public areas in the Byron Shire.
