AFTER FIVE days in a coma on life support, a Byron Bay woman faces amputation of both her hands and all ten of her toes.

Shelley Hill, a Medibank Private suicide hotline worker, contracted a virulent strain on malaria while working as a volunteer helping elephants in Cambodia.

Council Seeks Nominations for Byron Shire 2018 Positive Ageing Awards

TO CELEBRATE the contribution our seniors make to the Byron Shire community, Council is calling for nominations for the 2018 Positive Ageing Awards.

Older members of the community not only have wisdom and grace that comes from experience but they have time and love for our shire that sees them donating thousands of volunteer hours for all manner of organisations and causes.

VOICE of BYRON regular, Benita Martin, has approached Voice of Byron with details of an alleged hit-and-run near Ewingsdale, Byron Bay. 

Benita says, “On Monday evening a friend of mine was struck by a vehicle that was making a very dangerous move on the interchange of Byron over the motorway, which skittled him and his motorbike off the road.
