Open, Leafy and Vibrant New Spaces Coming Soon to Railway Square

CLEVER LANDSCAPE design, seating and lighting, connective pathways and new amenities are coming soon to Byron’s Railway Square following Council’s endorsement of the Railway Square Landscape Concept Plan at the December meeting.

“This is exciting news and means we can get on with a design-led solution for this currently under-utilised space,” Byron Council Mayor Simon Richardson said.

Work on Byron Bay Town Bypass to Start in 2018

WORK ON the Byron Bay town bypass is set to start in early 2018. 

Byron Shire Council’s Director Infrastructure Services, Phil Holloway, said staff will begin working with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) early in the new year to finalise a construction timeline and plan for the relocation of services including water mains and telecommunications.

Byron Shire Council Committed to Protecting Seven Mile Beach

BYRON SHIRE Council has allocated $20,000 to look at ways to improve parking, traffic and illegal camping at Seven Mile Beach at Broken Head.

At the Council meeting this week Councillors also agreed to implement an action plan that has been developed with local residents, and agencies including NSW Police, Rural Fire Service and the National Parks and Wildlife Service to address a wide range of issues that are currently threatening the area.

Vanpackers ‘Crapping’ in Railway Car Park Byron Bay

Vanpackers are ‘taking over’ the Rails car park in Byron Bay according to local residents and business people. Photo supplied

BYRON BAY residents and business people are ‘crapped off’ by an ‘invasion’ of vanpackers who they say have set up an unofficial campsite on railway land in the centre of the town.

They say the travellers are taking advantage of a Catch 22 that prevents Byron Council rangers taking action against them in the car park adjacent to the Rails Hotel.
