Slow Council Land Release Doubles Industrial Estate Land Values

A RECENT NSW Valuer General report blames limited new land releases in the Byron local government area by multiple Councils over many years has driven up land values on existing properties.

NSW Valuer General Simon Gilkes says overall there was a strong increase in land values in the Byron Local Government Area between 2016 and 2017.

Byron Shire Council Tests for Tallow Creek Odour and Water Quality

BYRON SHIRE Council staff have taken water samples at different locations in Tallow Creek at Suffolk Park after members of the public reported a bad smell and discoloured water.

Acting Manager, Infrastructure Services, Phil Warner, said Council’s Environmental Health Officer inspected a large section of Tallow Creek and has taken water samples that have been sent for testing but at this stage Council believes the odour and water discolouration are a natural event.

THEY’RE often spotted around Byron Bay and now the Hemsworth brothers, plus their beaus Elsa Pataky and Miley Cyrus, have reportedly taken up temporary residence at a lavish pad in nearby Broken Head.

The sprawling property known as Titijaru sold in March 2017 for $4.25 million and is now being rented by the Hollywood A-listers.

VOICE of BYRON regular, Shaun McDonald shared Hodaddy’s post about the early 1960s at Watego’s Beach.

Hodaddy says, “That is Wategoes Beach in 1961, via Colin Ashford. There are several nice photos of Wategoes showing no houses, minimal houses, the banana farm, then the dirt road into bitumen and of course to where it is now … millionaires only.
