Byron Train Turns Sydney Heads

THE 660 series two-car rail motor train which will soon call Byron Bay home is currently turning heads as part of Vivid Festival in Sydney.

Byron Bay Railroad Company Ltd, a not-for-profit enterprise owned by the people behind Elements of Byron Resort, is reinstating a train between Sunrise Beach, just outside Elements of Byron Resort, and the Bay township.

The classic rail cars which will soon lie on those tracks is currently at the Lithgow State Mine Railway until it is brought via train and truck to Byron Bay in November.

While it is in Lithgow, the 660 series is being used for a 75-minute train ride excursion on the heritage narrow gauge railway which used to service the Royal Australian Navy munitions bunkers.

The train seats 106 passengers and leaves three times a day.
