THE MELBOURNE Ballet Company (MBC) will grace the stage at the Byron Theatre this week as it showcases a contemporary version of a classical ballet piece.
Arche, meaning ‘the principle from which all things arise’, is an innovative production that takes its inspiration primarily from the age-old classic, Swan Lake, exploring and embracing much of the original narrative and some of the classical repertoire.
Director, Simon Hoy, has structured the production to reflect his unique choreographic style, linking this with a powerful musical score comprising music excerpts drawn from Tchaikovsky, Einaudi, Arnalds, Morricone, Jean-Renaud and Elgar.
This will be the third season the MBC has performed at the Byron Theatre. The collaboration between the two comes as a result of a shared desire to make ballet more accessible to the people of Byron Bay.
At the Byron Theatre from 7:30pm tonight.
